Education: Confirmation

Girl with Bible

Definition:

"Confirmation is a pastoral and educational ministry of the church which helps the baptized child through Word and Sacrament to identify more deeply with the Christian community and participate more fully in its mission."

Purpose:

To provide an avenue to carry out the Lord’s command to His people.

Responsibility:

The task is a dual one between the church and families. The Lord required family heads to “bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." (Ephesians 6:4)

The church is a partner in this task because God has laid on the church the task of providing fellowship and sharing together.

Youth Confirmation education begins when children enter into 6th grade and follows through 7th and 8th grades. Confirmation, for all youth satisfactorily completing the program, is held in November of their 9th grade year. Classes are taught by our called staff on a schedule following the school year, beginning in September and ending mid-May. Classes are held twice a week Wednesdays, 6:00-8:00 P.M. and Sundays, 9:15-10:15 A.M. For more information, please contact the church office.

Pastor's Information Class
You are invited and welcome to participate in the upcoming Pastor’s Information Class which is scheduled to begin on Thursday, March 4th at 6:30 PM in Room 103.
This class is designed for those individuals who would like to learn the fundamental teaching of the Lutheran Church. It is ideal for those who are considering joining St. Luke’s or another Lutheran church. It is also a great refresher for members.
The pastors will be teaching the class. It will meet every Thursday evening for 7-8 weeks. Books and materials will be provided. If you are interested in the class but cannot meet on Thursday evenings, let the office know—there may be a possibility of a day time opportunity as well if there are enough people interested in it. Daytime classes would be Thursdays at 10:30 AM if needed.
Please call the office if you plan to attend, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday,
423-5990.
